The Great Western Railway concentrated its motive power on 4-6-0 designs.  These were so successful that the last locomotives to be built to this type of design were not constructed until into the ‘British Railways’ era in 1950.  No.6000 ‘King George V’ crosses the fast flowing River Wye at Hereford with an enthusiasts’ special for Newport in late 1984.
