I have been fond of steam since about the age of three, following a visit to Brighton Station.
A school trip on a train hauled by 34055, ‘Fighter Pilot’ boosted my interest and commuting to my secondary school by train kept it alive and flourishing. For a few years that meant coming part the way home behind a standard 4MT and a Bulleid 3 set.
Videoing steam on the mainline and on preserved lines became an interest in the ’80s and I have been learning ever since. Letting others see what I have seen is a bonus.
