On March 3rd 2012, ex_GWR ‘King’ Class 4-6-0 No. 6024 ‘King Edward I’ is approaching Box Middle Hill tunnel with ‘The Bristolian’ from Bristol to Paddington.  The ‘King’ Class, designed by Collett in 1927, was the prime express motive power for the Great Western Railway through to the 1960’s.  The trip illustrated here was one of its last prior to withdrawal for its statutory 7-year overhaul.
