For Days 6 to 8, the train divided, one part going from Edinburgh to Inverness, the other from Edinburgh to Fort William and Mallaig.  On Day 6, 1st May 2014, the first part was hauled by ex-LNER ‘A4’ Class 4-6-2 60009 ‘Union of South Africa’ from Edinburgh via Aberdeen to Inverness, and is here starting the crossing of the Forth Bridge on a rather damp morning.
