A little later, ex-LMS ‘Class 5’ 4-6-0 45212 is storming the 1 in 102 bank beyond Markinch.  Rather than take the direct route to Perth, the train operated via Dundee so that the passengers could cross both the Forth and Tay Bridges.  However, due to track layout, this necessitated the train being diesel hauled from Dundee to Perth with 45212 on the back.
