In order not to delay the 100+ mph electric service trains (46233 is limited to a maximum speed of 75mph), the train has to occasionally stop in loops to enable the faster service trains to pass. After one such looping, ex-LMS ‘Duchess’ Class 4-6-2 46233 ‘Duchess of Sutherland’ is passing Great Strickland on the climb to Shap summit.
