4472 ‘Flying Scotsman’ is approaching Wennington with the northbound Carnforth – Hellifield leg of the Cumbrian Mountain Express in 1984. This was a BR sponsored train which was run occasionally during the 1980s, with this leg operated with one loco and that from Hellifield to Carlisle with another, since there are no turning facilities at Hellifield. It operated in one direction only on any one day, the run to / from Carlisle being electric loco hauled. See also FS30.
